The Union County Patriots endorse Fern Shubert for NC Senate- District 35.

Rep. Curtis Blackwood wholeheartedly endorses Fern Shubert for NC Senate.
Folks,
I’ve personally known Senator Fern Shubert for well over a decade and give her my unqualified support in her race for NC Senate District 35.
As a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, let me address the lie that she is ineffective. Senator Shubert has always been extremely effective, contrary to the falsehoods spread by dishonest Democrats and their cronies.
She has received a number of awards for outstanding service during her eight year tenure in the North Carolina legislature including:
National Federation of Independent Business Guardian of Small Business Award
The first award ever given a state representative for government service by the North Carolina Electronics and Information Technology Association
Recognized by the US SBA as the accountant who did the most in the nation to help small business
She was also elected Senate Republican Whip in her freshman year in the N. C. Senate.
For more information you can go to her web site, www.FernShubert.com or phone her at 704-296-2175.
This email could be much longer, but let me close by saying that I have worked closely with Senator Shubert while in Raleigh and she represents the people, not special interests.
Sincerely,
Curtis Blackwood

Mint Hill Times – April 22, 2010
THIS WEEK’S EDITORIAL
Austin, Shubert our picks in the primaries
May 4 is an important primary for people in Mint Hill. With Senator Eddie Goodall
and Representative Jim Gulley vacating their seats in Raleigh, the field is wide open.
There are Democrats running for Senate District 35 Ed McGuire) and House District
103 (Ann Newman). However, because there are no Democratic opponents,
they will be unopposed in the primary. The Republican side is different. The race for
Senator and Representative for Republicans is up for grabs. Luckily for the districts,
all four Republican candidates are strong.
In the Senate Republican primary, both Tommy Tucker and Fern Shubert would
be good Senators for this area.
Our choice is Shubert. She has the experience, and despite her penchant
to rub other Senators the wrong way —especially Democrats—she always backs
up her ideas with numbers. And she has been right more often than not.
For example, it was Shubert who predicted Former Governor Mike Easley’s
legal trouble because of land deals near the coast of North Carolina. With a
degree in accounting from Duke University, it fits that Shubert would want the
numbers on her side. In Raleigh, where back room deals have been
par-for-the-course for decades, Shubert is not afraid to pull the curtains back, and
that is exactly what this state needs right now.

Editor:
I did not know the person opposing Former Senator Fern Shubert in the upcoming Republican primary to represent Union County in the North Carolina Senate. However I recently saw some of the outrageously misleading fliers her opponent put out against Senator Shubert and I am shocked that this trash is coming from a self-proclaimed republican. His ads say more about himself than they do about Shubert. I served in the legislature with Fern and she is absolutely honest, hard working, conservative, brilliant, ever loyal to constituency. She NEVER supported a tax increase. She stood strong against crooks (like Jim Black for example). As to her accuser, my Dad would say, “only a snake could wiggle like that.” Look for the truth. Find it in Fern Shubert.
